Online Asbestos Awareness and AHERA Rules Course (SPECIAL)

This tailor-made course provides students with basic information about asbestos and its hazards and to identify typical asbestos containing materials required by OSHA Asbestos Standards and EPA AHERA rules for school employees who perform housekeeping duties. The course addresses topics for an annual refresher for employees who perform Class III Maintenance and Small-Scale, Short-Duration activities (as defined by AHERA) but assumes that those employees have more comprehensive information from the original class.

This training does not certify the students to work with asbestos but teaches the students how to avoid costly mistakes when working around asbestos containing materials.

There is no final exam for the course but there are review quizzes throughout the course to enforce students' comprehension.

Regulations Fulfilled:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Subpart Z, Asbestos – 1910.1001 and 1926.1101 and Class IV Operations Training

Introduction of asbestos, asbestos and health, regulations, industry designations, associated training, air monitoring, asbestos inspections, communication, work practice principles, and an overview of AHERA rules are covered in this course. Quizzes are included to test students’ comprehension.
